Starting our Friday with Creative Mornings Fayetteville has become a ritual we look forward to—one that sparks connection, reflection, and inspiration to carry us through the month.

This month’s theme was “Mentor,” and it was explored through powerful storytelling, soulful music, and meaningful movement.

Las Hermanitas Alvarez: A Harmonious Start

We began the morning with an incredible performance by Las Hermanitas Alvarez, a talented sister trio whose music and presence lit up the room. They played “Salvas” and “A Man Without Love”—songs that blended mariachi rhythms with classical elegance and bilingual storytelling. Their energy had the audience smiling, swaying, and ready for more.

If you haven’t heard them yet, do yourself a favor: follow them on social media and find out where they’re playing next. Better yet, invite them to your next gathering—they’re a true Northwest Arkansas treasure.

Pause, Breathe, Move

Before diving into the keynote, we took a moment for a guided mindfulness and movement session. With eyes closed, hearts open, and bodies rooted like trees, we were reminded of the importance of being present in the bodies we reside in. Breath by breath, we reconnected to the now—together.

Joseph Burns on the Power of Mentorship

Our featured speaker, Joseph Burns of Fabel, shared his deeply personal journey through the lens of mentorship. Growing up in South Fayetteville, Joseph encountered both positive and negative mentors—each leaving a mark that shaped his path.

He reminded us that mentorship doesn’t always come with a title or a plan. Sometimes, it’s simply someone showing up, seeing you, and believing in your potential.

Joseph’s reflections spanned lessons from his own mentors and his work as a mentor himself, especially through organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters and Potter’s House. He reminded us that mentorship is always happening—whether we realize it or not—and encouraged us to be intentional about the kind of impact we want to make.

“We are mentoring in ways always. May you have—and be—the kind of mentor who brings goodness into the world.” — Joseph Burns

Community, Support, and What’s Next

As always, Creative Mornings wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of community sponsors like AdobeUnited Bank, and the Fayetteville Public Library, along with all the volunteers and local leaders who make this magic happen.

Looking ahead, the next Creative Mornings Fayetteville event will explore the theme “Nomad” on August 22nd. Mark your calendars—you won’t want to miss it.
