On December 7, 2024, the Fayetteville Public Library will host an inspiring event featuring Mercury Stardust, widely known as the “Trans Handy Ma’am.” This event, titled “Libraries are Handy,” is scheduled from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the library’s Event Center.

Mercury Stardust is a professional home maintenance technician, performer, and award-winning activist. She has gained significant recognition for her compassionate approach to DIY home repair education, particularly through her engaging TikTok videos, where she has amassed over 2.5 million followers.

Her expertise encompasses rental maintenance, landlord negotiations, and various home repair skills, including addressing clogs, drywall repairs, painting, minor electrical fixes, and caulking.

During the “Libraries are Handy” event, Mercury will share insights from her journey, blending DIY home repair skills with wisdom from her New York Times bestselling book, Safe and Sound: A Renter-Friendly Guide to Home Repair. Her motto, “You’re worth the time it takes to learn a new skill,” reflects her dedication to empowering individuals to tackle both household repairs and life’s challenges.

Following her talk, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Mercury during a book signing session.
