It’s about time.

For decades, menopause was whispered about or dismissed entirely, often leaving women feeling isolated, confused, and even ashamed as their bodies changed in ways they didn’t fully understand—and weren’t prepared for. But a shift is happening, and it feels long overdue.

This May, AY Magazine featured a timely and empowering article by Dwain Heba about menopause. His thoughtful exploration of the topic reminds us that while the science of menopause isn’t new, the attention, understanding, and tools available to help women navigate it are evolving in promising ways.

Books like The New Menopause: Navigating Your Path Through Hormonal Change with Purpose, Power, and the Facts are sparking meaningful conversation. This book—and others like it—are validating experiences that women have silently endured for years. They remind me of Uterine Health, written by my friend, Arkansas author and health coach Eve Agee, which was ahead of its time in addressing women’s wellness holistically and honestly.

Story after story speaks of the confusion, fear, and frustration women have felt when symptoms were ignored or brushed off. But now, with powerful advocates like Oprah Winfrey, Halle Berry (check out her Re-Spin Reset Program), Maria Shriver, and a growing number of medical professionals and wellness communities stepping up, we’re seeing momentum. These voices are helping remove stigma, educate the public, and offer real resources for women navigating menopause—and for the families who want to support them.

The conversation is changing. Support networks are forming. And the message is finally being heard:

You are not alone.

Whether you’re a woman entering this chapter of life or someone who loves and supports one, this growing wave of awareness, science, and shared stories is helping build a healthier, more empowered path forward.

Let’s keep talking about it. Let’s keep learning. And let’s keep showing up for one another.
