Trees are one of my favorite things until they are not. This last month. we were in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, one of my favorite places, which has some of my favorite trees. After our trip we returned to Northwest Arkansas where multiple tornadoes had hit. Areas that we love.
Growing up in Northwest Arkansas I fell in love with trees. For awhile my nickname was tree hugger. Until I took out two sugar gum trees from my yard.
Though I appreciate them, they can be so problematic. Especially when violent storms roll through an area.
Upon returning from vacation, we did what we could to help some loved ones with the aftermath of the storms. It was great fun to clear brush like I did in my younger days. Chris chainsawed plenty.
One friend had a lovely very old tree fall on the middle of their home. As hard as that is, we are all so grateful our friends were not hit by that massive tree. They were mere feet from where it landed!
We foresee more chainsawing or more mucking out homes in our near future.
We foresee northwest Arkansas landscape will change. Though like Bay Saint Louis, we know that northwest Arkansas communities will come together and rebuild and be better than ever.
We will continue to do what we can when we can.
