Northwest Arkansas has always been a great place to tell stories through images. Over the years, Star Shopper has probably captured a million photographs, most of them cars, shot, edited, and published for people all across the region and interwebs. Product photography has long been a part of our work, but our heart has always been in the art of photographing the people, places, and moments that shape a region.

Today, that same spirit is alive all around NWA.

Right now, there are two incredible photography exhibits happening in our community:

Greatest Wildlife Photographs

 The Momentary Bentonville

For so many of us, growing up and flipping through the pages of National Geographic sparked a dream: to chase the world with a camera. Even if you never imagined yourself behind the yellow border, chances are you remember the thrill of picking up your first camera and feeling that click that instant connection between you and the world you wanted to capture.

The wildlife photography exhibit at The Momentary is absolutely worth the visit. While you’re there, don’t miss JR’s printing press an experience that reminds us how powerful imagery can be in shaping our shared stories. Becoming Art is beautiful

The Evolution of Photography

Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, Springdale

The Shiloh Museum offers a beautiful look at the equipment, craft, and creativity that carried photography from its earliest days to the tools we use now. It’s a reminder of just how far we’ve come from glass plates and darkrooms to phones in our pockets capable of stunning clarity.

A Stop Worth the Drive: Tim Ernst

And if you want to experience photography that feels like stepping straight into the soul of the Ozarks, make time to visit Tim Ernst’s studio in Newton County. For decades, Tim has captured the hidden corners of Arkans the waterfalls, the ridges, the quiet moments that most people never see.

His studio days are a treat, offering a chance to hear him talk about his craft, explore new work, and feel the connection he’s built with these mountains. If you can’t make it in person, his books, prints, and updates can be found online, where his love for the Ozarks continues to inspire people near and far.

A Lens for Everyone

Whether you’re shooting with:

  • your eyes,
  • your phone,
  • your camera, or
  • your heart…

these exhibits will inspire you to slow down and appreciate the world in front of you.

Photography isn’t just about capturing life, it’s about seeing it. Northwest Arkansas gives us endless reasons to look a little closer, breathe a little deeper, and enjoy the beauty others capture through their viewfinders.
